Sunday 26th May
Cor blimey. Finally a chance to ride without any feckin rain. Unfortunately it coincided with a planting day. Silverfox, Tinkerbell and Dozer showed up at mine for an 8.30 start and we headed round the usual route(the Woolston Cut and behind Ferrymead shops via the towpath) to Ferrymead bridge where we waited for Phatboy to show up. He ended up following our tracks all the way. We then went down Bridal Path Rd before turning up Canon Hill Cres. Good steady climb up here until we reached the top. From here i led through the park that took us onto Major Hornbrook. The others ended up going through the tennis court while I pumped around through the grass and then onto a short single track way in front. I continued on then discovered no one following so I rode back down to where they were having a wee rest. From here i led on past our normal rest stop by the hedge, up the wee steep street behind the new subdivision nearly all the way to Upper major Hornbrook. We then rode down a walking track which was way to short, then down the road to the top of McCormick's Bay track. Phatboy led followed by Tinks then me. Doing well until I lost it so Dozer jumped a spot. We continued down the greasy side but after the bridge it got dryer and much more traction. Fast run to the end and then we rode back to Charlesworth Reserve where we helped plant about 1000 trees before riding home. Dozer and Phatboy one way while the other 3 of us headed back to mine.
